The new licensing and inspection software coming this fall, named OMMA MedPortal, will require business owners to choose a “managing owner” to serve as the primary contact in the portal. This person must be someone who holds some percentage of ownership in the business.
Choosing someone to serve as a managing owner in the new portal will result in more efficient communication when follow-up regarding the business is needed. The managing owner will be able to add up to three business affiliates to the business account after logging in to the portal and claiming the business. These affiliates may include existing business owners, third-party consultants or attorneys.
OMMA encourages every business to select an actively involved owner as the managing owner who is trusted with authority to oversee the license application process and fulfill other business-related obligations.
Today, we are requesting you to identify a managing owner for purposes of the licensing portal by Sept. 5, 2025, so OMMA can add the information into the OMMA MedPortal before it launches, ensuring a smooth transition for all. If a managing owner is not selected by you by Sept. 5, 2025, the person with the highest ownership percentage will automatically be assigned the role in the OMMA MedPortal. In instances of 50-50 ownership, you will receive a call from OMMA if no managing owner is selected.
The managing owner will be responsible for adding the other business affiliates to the business account in the portal. Keep in mind that we are using the phrase “managing owner” as a term of art in our licensing portal to describe a business owner who is listed on a medical marijuana license and is given the responsibility of managing the OMMA MedPortal on behalf of the business.
Use the form below to designate your managing owner by Sept. 5, 2025.
