Dear Provider,
To make the update of expiration dates easier, Immunization Service team will check and edit dates for all lot numbers of Janssen COVID-19 vaccine in OSIIS.
Providers don't need to change expiration dates themselves for their current Janssen inventory!
- Immunization Service will only edit dates for vaccines that have not yet expired.
- All vaccines with the expiration date on and after June 13th, 2021, will be checked and updated if needed.
- If provider has Janssen vaccines that expired/expire before June 13th, 2021 and have been properly stored, provider can update expiration date and use per the new dates.
- Immunization Service will complete the update early next week.
- For all new deliveries, providers are required to check expiration dates at www.vaxcheck.jnj and edit them if needed when accepting transfers in OSIIS.
Please see Johnson & Johnson Statement on FDA Approval of Shelf Life Extension for Company’s COVID-19 Vaccine here.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized an extension of the shelf life for the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) single-shot COVID-19 vaccine from 3 months to 4.5 months.
Janssen COVID-19 vaccine is stable for 4.5 months when refrigerated at temperatures of 36 – 46 degrees Fahrenheit (2 – 8 degrees Celsius).
Please feel free to use the Janssen vaccine in your inventory for 18 years and older clients. Immunization Service will keep sharing updates as we receive them.
Thank you, Immunization Service |
