Update on OKMTSS Data Tools and Supports for School
The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is committed to supporting districts in using multiple sources of data to identify students who may be at risk for academic or behavioral concerns. As part of this effort, OSDE previously partnered with Public Consulting Group to develop OKMTSS on EdPlan, an online dashboard intended to provide districts with a no-cost tool for tracking student data, managing interventions, and generating reports to support instructional decision-making.
During implementation, the state worked with multiple partners to align the various data sources used by districts across Oklahoma. Through this process, it became clear that the project would need to evolve in order to better meet the needs of schools across the state. As a result, OSDE will shift away from implementing the OKMTSS on EdPlan dashboard and instead focus on providing districts with a broader range of tools and supports for data analysis and MTSS implementation.
Importantly, this adjustment does not affect other EdPlan applications currently used by districts, including:
- EasyIEP on EdPlan
- 504 on EdPlan
- Early Learning Inventory (ELI) on EdPlan
- Behavior Threat Assessment on EdPlan
Additionally, the Office of Special Education will continue the expectation that districts transition Specific Learning Disability eligibility processes from the traditional discrepancy model to a Response to Intervention approach by 2032. This adjustment from the OKMTSS data tool does not change that requirement or timeline.
Continued Support for Data Analysis
OSDE remains committed to supporting districts in implementing strong data analysis and MTSS practices. To meet the varying needs of schools across the state, districts will have access to several options, including:
- Free customizable data-tracking templates that schools can adapt to their local needs
- Professional development opportunities through supported vendors
- Statewide professional learning focused on MTSS and data analysis
- Access to district-funded data tools through third-party vendors
Professional Learning Opportunities
District leaders and educators can explore available tools and supports through several upcoming learning opportunities:
- Data Retreats focused on Data-Based Individualization (DBI)
- OSDE Connect Courses supporting MTSS implementation and data-driven decision making
- OKMTSS Summer Conference (June), which will highlight tools and resources to strengthen district data analysis and intervention systems
Additional information and registration details can be found on the OKMTSS webpage.
OSDE appreciates the work districts are doing to build systems that use data to guide academic and behavioral supports for students. We look forward to continuing to partner with schools across Oklahoma to ensure educators have the tools and training needed to support every learner.
