Upcoming Session: The Power of Play-Based Learning

Join us on August 5 at 4:00 PM or 7:00 PM for an engaging session on the power of play in early learning environments. This session will explore play-based learning and highlight the value each type of play, ranging from free play to guided and structured play brings to early learning environments. Participants will gain insight into how different forms of play foster creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. We will also connect play-based experiences to academic standards, demonstrating purposeful play can enhance student outcomes across content areas.

Science and Engineering Project Manager

Lisa Sizelove is the new Project Manager for PK–12 Science and Engineering at the OSDE. In this role, she leads statewide efforts to support the implementation of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science, promotes high-quality instructional practices, and collaborates with schools to strengthen STEM education. With 18 years of teaching experience in the U.S. and South Korea, Lisa brings a strong background in literacy, science, and curriculum development. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, studied agriculture through Cal Poly Pomona, and earned her M.Ed. from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also serves as a national LETRS facilitator. Lisa and her family moved to Oklahoma in 2017 through a military assignment. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 2022, they were excited to make Oklahoma their permanent home. Inspired daily by the curiosity of her three sons, Lisa strongly believes in introducing science early, using storytelling, play, and hands-on, real-world exploration to engage even the youngest learners. She encourages students to explore, ask questions, and discover the world around them.
