OKCEC Annual Conference


Virtual Everything

Registration for the annual OKCEC Conference is live! Please join us virtually on Saturday, February 6, 2021, by registering here.

There is a registration fee of $20 and is also free for students with valid student ID. 

 

Attendees will engage in four sessions focused on topics relevant to doing "virtually everything" as professionals in the field.

  • Keynote: "Learning, Leading, and Progressing!" with Dr. Luann Purcell
  • Session 1: "Leading Assistants and Paraprofessionals: What You Didn't Learn in College" with Kathryn Ash, M.Ed.
  • Session 2: "Improving School Climate: Student Engagement" with Dr. Kelly Davis, and Mika Shelton, M.Ed.
  • Session 3: "Your Stress...My Stress...Our Stress!" with Dr. Victor James and Dr. Alexander Young
  • Legislative Update with Andrea Kunkel, CCOSA General Counsel and ODSS Executive Director
  • Session 4: "Stress Management: How Special Education Teachers Deal with Job-Related Stress" with Dr. Leslie Matthews
  • 4 Corners Breakout Sessions

Trainings/Webinars

American Sign Language (ASL) Courses hosted by the Oklahoma School for the Deaf

As a statewide resource center, the Oklahoma School for the Deaf offers 8-week ASL courses online at no charge.  Participants will learn American Sign Language from Deaf, ASL fluent instructors and will participate in the courses via online learning modules and live interaction. Participants may request a certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.

National Federation of the Blind - Distance Learning Resources

The National Federation of the Blind is committed to ensuring quality education for blind students, and to providing activities and lessons that are fun and educational for blind children and their families. When virtual education is necessary or encouraged, we want blind students to be able to continue learning alongside their sighted peers.

Project 613 UPDATE

OSDE sponsored events, professional development, and conferences are beneficial to special education teachers and staff. Additionally, Project 613 does not have a deadline to submit an application. Districts can submit an application at any time. Please Note: All upcoming activities and events are subject to being rescheduled, canceled, or move to an online format. Information about any changes will be posted to the listserv.
