Fine Arts Update

The summer months are a great time to network with other teachers and acquire new ideas through professional development. This summer is no different and the OSDE is excited to announce that there will be free webinars to help prepare you for the 2020-21 school year. The webinars will feature Oklahoma teachers as they share what worked for them during distance learning this spring. The presenters and session dates are below. 

  • June 16, 10 a.m. - Brooke Perez, Secondary Drama/Theatre
  • June 16, 3:30 p.m. - Frances Williams, Middle School Art
  • June 17, 10 a.m. - Katie Wonderly, Elementary General Music
  • June 17, 1 p.m. - Heather Bellows & Jared VanVickle, Instrumental Music 
  • June 18, 10 a.m. - Ashlynn Dickinson, Elementary General Music
  • June 18, 1 p.m. - Eric Lyons, High School Art

Engage OK 2020

Every July, the OSDE presents professional development in high schools across the state. This year, the PD has moved online and teachers from all over the state may attend sessions! You can find more information on the EngageOK site. 

Please note that the Fine Arts Session "An Introduction to the New Oklahoma Fine Arts Standards for Dance, Drama/Theatre, Music, and Visual Art" will be on Thursday, July 16, from 10:30-noon. Co-presenters will include Oklahoma arts educators who helped create the new standards. Join the conversation and learn about the new fine arts standards!

Preparing for the 2020-21 Visual Art School Year

Oklahoma Junior Duck Stamp Program

The 2021 Junior Duck Stamp Program art competition has been announced. Remember that there is curriculum available on the Junior Duck Stamp website. Contact Phillip Stevenson for more information.

Oklahoma State Superintendent’s Art Gallery Schedule

The current art display for Youth Arts Month will be removed as soon as work schedules return to normal at the SDE. Teachers will be able to pick up their student art from OAEA members sometime this summer.
