Information Regarding the Educational Interpreter Registry

The Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma School for the Deaf have partnered to update and maintain the educational interpreter registry that is on the OSDE website.  For the first couple of months, OSD will be contacting interpreters requesting information to update the current registry. If an interpreter is already certified through the Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) and registered through the Department of Rehabilitation Services Interpreter Certification and Resource Center (DRS/ICRC) they do not have to register again.  DRS/ICRC will provide their current information to OSD.  If an interpreter is not on the list and works in any capacity as an educational interpreter, please contact Traci Prince at OSD directly.  The goal is that interpreters, the Deaf community, parents, and schools, will be able to access the registry and get up to date information.

Another aspect of the contract with the Oklahoma State Department of Education is establishing a CEU program for interpreters who have an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) level.  The next few months will consist of information gathering, establishing a database, determining CEU guidelines and expectations, etc.  The EIPA CEU cycle will coincide with Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) CEU cycle and will begin January 2020. This will hopefully reduce confusion for those interpreters who have both QAST and EIPA.

More information will be sent out soon.  Please contact Traci at tprince@okdrs.gov, (580)622-4930, or (405)620-0946 (cell) if you have any questions!
