Southern Nazarene University Reading: Dyslexia Essentials

Take a deep dive into the science of reading and why some readers struggle with dyslexia using the new Oklahoma Dyslexia Handbook. 

Facilitated by Dr. Mary Dahlgren, a national literacy consultant and child advocate, Reading: Dyslexia Essentials will provide attendees the opportunity to learn more about the fundamental science behind reading instruction and dyslexia resources including school and family dyslexia checklists.

The Oklahoma Deaf Blind Technical Assistance Project

The Communication Matrix : A free source for assessment and implementation support for students with complex communication needs.

The Communication Matrix is an assessment instrument for individuals functioning at the earliest stages of communication who may use any form of communication, including pre-symbolic communication and augmentative or alternative forms. This workshop will provide participants hands on opportunities to use the Communication Matrix tool. Participants will be introduced to the IEP guide as well as to the Communication Matrix Custom Report that provides strategies and tools.

DLM Virtual Coaching Project

The Center for Literacy and Disabilities Studies (UNC Chapel Hill) has secured approval for a DLM Virtual Coaching Project. Twelve volunteer teachers who work with students in grades 3-5 who take the DLM alternate assessment in ELA are needed to participate. See the flyer for more information. 

 


I-SMART Fall Pilot

The Center for Accessible Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Systems (ATLAS) at the University of Kansas is seeking districts and educators who administer the Dynamic Learning Maps® (DLM®) assessment to participate in the Innovations in Science Map, Assessment, and Report Technologies (I-SMART) pilot study from November 5 until December 20, 2019. I-SMART is a research and development project designed to complement operational DLM science alternate assessments. Contact Kurt.Johnson@sde.ok.gov for more information.
