Oklahoma Early Childhood Family Guides

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is excited to share the Oklahoma Family Guides for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for Pre-K through 2nd Grade.

The OSDE Family Guides are resources aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards and developed specifically for Oklahoma families to complement classroom learning. They illustrate what is expected of students at each grade level in different content areas along with activities families can do at home to further support children's learning experiences.

The content information in these family guides is a snapshot of learning in the individual grade levels. For a complete set of academic standards for ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, visit the Oklahoma-academic-standards.

Grades 3-6 are coming soon!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope this finds everyone heading into 2019 refreshed and ready to go! I'm not a resolution setter, but I am committed to exercising more.

Second semester is always a time to rethink and make changes in classrooms. I made a classroom graphic organizer with 5 education-related categories: inclusion, collaboration, classroom climate, differentiated instruction, and learning.  This organizer could be used to team plan, reflect on your classroom or set targets for the semester.  If you are a teacher in wanting professional development around the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) we have a professional development coming up January 29th in Chickasha, OK. The  link to enroll is at the top of the newsletter, or you can enroll here.

On a personal note, my family grew over Winter Break, we added a sweet grandson. We have 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, all under 6 years old! Everyone's favorite toy was, of course, the boxes! Best wishes for 2019 to be a year of joy and success for you!
