Location: NE 11th St. and Missouri Ave.
Victim: Smith, Jerel (B/M, DOB: 6/29/1996)
Arrested: Sobreira Freeland Moeckel, August (B/M, DOB: 7/13/2005)
Narrative: Yesterday morning, police responded to a shooting call near NE 11th and Missouri. Responding officers found Jerel Smith suffering from being shot. Smith was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators learned that Smith became involved in an altercation with August Sobreira Freeland Moeckel. That altercation resulted in Smith being shot to death.
Detectives later located Sobreira Freeland Moeckel. He was interviewed and subsequently booked into jail on a complaint of murder in the second degree.
