Arrested: Penn, Kaziya (B/M, 04/25/2005)
Narrative: On June 22, 2025, there was a shooting in Scissortail Park after the OKC Thunder Finals game. There was one juvenile male victim who was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The shooting stemmed from an altercation in the park, and the suspect fled the scene.
On June 24, 2025, an officer made a traffic stop at Oklahoma City Blvd. and Thunder Dr. just before 11pm. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Kaziya Penn. A handgun was located on Penn during the traffic stop, and he was arrested for unlawfully carrying a firearm.
The gun recovered on Penn was test-fired and entered into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), confirming it as the firearm used in the shooting at Scissortail Park on 6/22/2025. After a lengthy investigation, Penn was arrested on 8/6/2025 and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Penn confessed to the shooting.
