Date & Time of Incident: 6/24/2025 at 3:15 PM.
Location: 2505 SW 45th St.
Victim: Jelinek, Edwin (W/M, DOB: 1/11/1981)
Arrested: Herrera, Patrick (W/M, DOB: 3/2/1993)
Narrative: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shooting in front of a residence in the 2500 block of SW 45th. The victim, Edwin Jelinek, was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
After the shooting, the suspect, Patrick Herrera, fled the scene in a burgundy vehicle which officers spotted a short time later. After a short slow-speed pursuit, Herrera stopped at a residence and surrendered. Mr. Herrera was later booked into jail on a murder complaint. It appears the two argued just prior to the shooting.
