OKC’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center closed March 28

Oklahoma City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed Friday, March 28, for maintenance and will reopen Saturday, March 29.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1621 S. Portland Ave. accepts a variety of hazardous materials from residents’ homes year-round. Products accepted at the center include gasoline, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, weed killers, swimming pool chemicals and paint-related products.
The center’s regular hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center is operated by the Storm Water Quality Division of the Public Works Department. Visit okc.gov/hhw for a list of accepted materials. For more information, call (405) 682-7038.
In case people missed the announcement, Oklahoma City residents can also gather their unwanted tires, prescription medication, computers and ammunition for a special collection event on April 12 at the OKC Fairgrounds.
