Date & Time: 1/1/2025 at 1:36 AM.
Location: 1400 block of SW 30th St.
Arrested/Wounded: Hernandez, Miguel (H/M, DOB: 3/23/2006).
Charges: Possession of a firearm after adjudication.
Involved Officer: Officer Jordan Umphreys – 5 years of service.
Narrative: Early Wednesday morning, police were summoned to a domestic call involving a firearm at a residence in the 1400 block of SW 30th St. The person who called 911 reported the suspect, Miguel Hernandez, had broken a window to the residence and was outside firing shots. As officers arrived, Mr. Hernandez fled on foot, still armed with a pistol. It was during the foot chase that Mr. Hernandez turned toward the pursuing officer and was subsequently shot by Officer Umphreys.
Mr. Hernandez suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to one of his ankles. He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. He was later booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of possession of a firearm after adjudication.
Officer Umphreys has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
