Date & Time of Incident: 3/4/2024 at 4:16 AM.
Location: 2211 NE 23rd St.
Victim: Brooks, Cherri (B/F, DOB: 7/21/1987
Arrested: Swain, Zaviare (B/M, DOB: 1/4/2005)
Arrested: Swain, Demarion (B/M, DOB: 6/12/2006)
Narrative: Early this morning, police responded to a shooting at the Relax Inn at 2211 NE 23rd St. Responding officers discovered a shooting victim, Cherri Brooks, in one of the hotel rooms. Ms. Brooks was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
Officers quickly put out information on the suspects’ vehicle, which had fled the scene. A short time later, the car was spotted in Edmond and the two suspects were taken into custody by officers from the Edmond Police Department. Both were transported to the OKCPD Homicide Unit to be interviewed. Both were subsequently arrested for murder in the first degree.
Zaviare Swain was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail, while his brother, Demarion Swain, was booked into the Berry House (Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center).
