Oklahoma City Animal Welfare set a big goal. The Shelter wants to see 100 dogs adopted by 5 p.m. Saturday to greatly reduce the overcrowding among the dog population.
The Shelter currently houses nearly 430 dogs, putting the building at 145% capacity.
All dogs 40 lbs. and up are free to adopt. The Shelter’s standard adoption fee is $60, but some dogs are $30.
Sweater Weather - tomorrow
To help meet the adoption goal, the Shelter is hosting a “Sweater Weather” party tomorrow, Dec. 2, from noon-5 p.m. People can meet adoptable dogs that are waiting for their forever homes. Was it mentioned all the dogs will be wearing sweaters? If adopters are also wearing a sweater, the Shelter is giving them and their adopted dog a free gift.
All adoptable dogs and cats at OKC Animal Welfare are up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, treated for worms and spayed or neutered.
The OKC Animal Shelter, 2811 SE 29th St., is open for adoptions from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, except City holidays. For more information, visit okc.gov/animalwelfare.
