11/3/23 BRT Construction Update

Bus Stop Closures and Temporary Stops

Note: Route 005 will significantly change in December with the launch of RAPID NW and other bus service changes. Find details about the OKC Moves Service Changes here.

Temporary Bus Stops

The following bus stops have been temporarily relocated:

Route 005 Inbound - Classen Blvd. at NW 23rd St. (Stop ID 3782) near Walgreens has temporarily moved south to Classen at NW 21st.
Route 005 Inbound - Classen Blvd. at NW 18th St. (Stop ID 601) has temporarily moved south to Classen at NW 17th (near Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Store).

Bus Stop Closures

The following fixed-route bus stops are closed:

Route 005 Inbound - Classen Blvd. at NW 24th St. (Stop ID 598)
Route 005 Outbound - Classen Blvd. at NW 22nd St. (Stop ID 3137)

Construction Nearing Completion

While most construction affecting street traffic have been completed, final tasks still underway through November include:

Installation of ticket vending machines (TVMs) at each bus platform
Completion of remaining pedestrian crossing improvements
Installation of remaining components for Traffic Signal Priority (TSP)
Completion of any other outstanding construction items before final inspection

Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should continue to be alert to workers and equipment at bus platforms and intersections as this work wraps up.

Service Testing Underway

While most construction activities have wrapped up, we're not picking up customers on RAPID NW just yet. Service testing is underway to ensure bus, platform, and Traffic Signal Priority technology is fine-tuned and working property before RAPID NW launches to the public on Dec. 3.

The public can expect to see buses driving the RAPID NW line and stopping at each platform during service hours, but should remember that these platforms are not in open to the public until RAPID service launches in December.
