Date & Time of Incident: 3/25/2023 at 5:33 P.M.
Location: 1100 W. I-240 Service Road
Victim 1: Aguilar, Maria (H/F, DOB: 2/4/1971)
Victim 2: Adult female
Witness: Minor child
Arrested: Acebedo, Dario (H/M, DOB: 2/28/1984)
Narrative: On 3/25/23, police responded to a possible shooting at the Cornerstone Apartments, in the 1100 block of W. I-240 Service Road. Responding officers were met by victim 2 (who was suffering from a gunshot wound) and another minor child who had witnessed the shooting. The two told officers that Maria had been shot by 39-year-old Dario Acebedo. Dario and Maria were previously in a relationship and share a child together.
While gathering information, investigators learned the suspect was still inside the apartment and had possibly harmed himself. They also needed to check Maria's welfare. Officers attempted to call the suspect outside but got no response. A contact team was set up and about to enter the apartment to render aid, if necessary, when Dario exited the apartment. He was taken into custody.
Investigators learned Maria Aguilar and Dario Acebedo became involved in an altercation after Dario showed up unannounced at the apartment. This altercation led to Mr. Acebedo shooting and killing Maria and shooting and injuring another adult female.
Dario Acebedo had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He was treated, released and ultimately booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of First-Degree Murder, Assault & Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping and Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Felony.
Victim 2 is expected to recover.
