Date & Time of Incident: 3/16/2023 at 9:38 AM
Location: 3301 SW 74th St.
Victim: Harvey, Matthew (W/M, DOB: 5/20/2002)
Arrested: Watkins, Ross (B/M, DOB: 12/6/1975)
Narrative: On 3/16/23, police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of SW 74th St. Responding officers located the victim, Matthew Harvey, deceased in the apartment.
Investigators learned the victim and the arrested person were roommates. The two became engaged in an altercation, which led to Mr. Watkins shooting and killing Mr. Harvey.
Mr. Watkins remained at the scene and was later arrested for possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
The district attorney’s office will determine if any charges are appropriate relating to the shooting.
