Starting your career with the City just got easier. Applicants can visit the Feb. 9 one-stop-shop hiring event for entry-level and crew supervisor positions. City staff will hold interviews, assist with mandatory drug testing and medical evaluations, and start the background check process downtown. Conditional job offers will be given on-site.
Details about the hiring event are below.
When: Thursday, Feb. 9, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: 420 W. Main St.
What to bring: A state-issued ID is required to interview.
How: Apply online by Feb. 7 at okc.gov/careers. Then attend the hiring event Feb. 9.
Parking: Validated parking is available at the Sheridan-Walker Public Parking Garage, 501 W. Sheridan Ave.
The City will interview for the following positions:
Employees install, maintain and repair water lines, water meters, water valves, fire hydrants, sewer lines, pumps, manholes and other system components. Must have a valid driver’s license (Operator) to qualify.
Supervises a crew engaged in various types of water/wastewater system repair and construction, ensures manpower, vehicles and equipment are safely transported to the jobsite. Confirms work is performed according to established safety and quality standards. Always uses sound judgment regarding public and worker safety. Must have a valid Class A Commercial dDriver’s License (CDL) and a valid Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Distribution/Collection Operator Class C Certification or DEQ Class C Water or Wastewater Certification to qualify.
Employees perform different facilities and grounds maintenance tasks that use vehicles, mowing equipment, standard electrical and hand tools. Must have a valid driver’s license (Operator) to qualify.
Employees drive and operate different vehicles and mowing equipment, repair facilities and equipment, and use standard and gasoline-powered yard tools to maintain City grounds. Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to qualify.
Employees drive to pick up trash containers, empty the contents into a truck bed or trash compactor, and return the containers to their previous location. Must have a valid driver license (Operator) to qualify.
