RAPID BRT Progress Update

In our second progress update video, EMBARK Senior Project Manager Kristen Torkelson takes a close look at Bus Rapid Transit improvements along Classen Blvd, including the new BRT platform at NW 18^th and Classen. Other video highlights include upcoming renovations at EMBARK’s downtown Transit Center and the first stages of BRT bus operator training.  

Construction Progress

• Of the 32 total bus platforms planned for the route, 14 concrete structures have been completed and two are under construction. This includes the new platforms at the downtown Transit Center and the proposed park-and-ride at NW Expressway and Meridian Ave.
• Utility work has been completed at five BRT platform locations and is underway at two locations.
• Sidewalk and mid-block crossing improvements are underway at NW 42^nd St. and Classen Blvd.
• One dedicated bus pull-out lane at NW Expressway and Penn Ave. has been completed.

Operations Update

• Four EMBARK bus operators are training on one of the new RAPID buses.  
• Five new RAPID buses are slated for delivery to EMBARK from the manufacturer in December.
