RAPID BRT Progress Update

Construction Progress

• Of the 32 total bus platforms planned for the route, six concrete structures have been completed and three are in progress as platform construction continues.
• More than 2,600 feet of new sidewalk have been completed.
• One dedicated bus pull-out lane at N.W. Expressway and Penn Ave. is under construction

In our first progress video, EMBARK’s Senior Project Manager Kristen Torkelson shares an update on the first stage of concrete work at several Bus Rapid Transit platforms, as well as sidewalk construction and utility relocation. New and improved sidewalks interconnected with the public transit system increase safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and subsequently motorists, while increasing property values, and most importantly increasing mobility for Oklahoma City.

Operations Update

The first of nine 40-foot CNG RAPID buses was unveiled in May. The bus is currently being used for testing, operator training, and demonstration, so you may see it out and about. The remaining RAPID buses will be delivered in early 2023 for technology installation and testing before service launches.
