NORMAN, Okla. – Join in on upcoming community events and be sure to plan ahead for impacts of construction work beginning early next week. See details through links below.
Upcoming Community Events
Residents are invited to enjoy several family-friendly events taking place this weekend:
Fourth Fest Finale - TODAY - July 10 – Celebrate Independence Day with the conclusion of Norman's Fourth Fest festivities, featuring live music, a petting zoo, food trucks and fireworks at Reaves Park.
National Trails Day - July 11 – Join Parks and Recreation for a morning of trail stewardship at Saxon Park, including litter cleanup, invasive species removal and outdoor education.
Duck Derby - July 12 – This annual community favorite is a collaborative event benefiting South Central CASA of Oklahoma, featuring duck races, family activities and lots of fun.
Upcoming Traffic Advisories
Motorists should adhere to all traffic control measures in place and stay alert in work zones. All construction schedules are weather dependent.
James Garner Water Line Replacement – Water line replacement work along James Garner Avenue between Duffy Street and Main Street will begin Monday, July 13. Temporary lane closures and traffic adjustments will be in place while crews complete the project over eight months.
Main Street Lane Closure – One westbound lane of Main Street between 24th Avenue SW and Interstate Drive will be temporarily closed for median work Monday, July 13. The closure should last 10 days. Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and watch for posted traffic control devices. Alternate routes are advised.
Robinson Street Mill & Overlay Project – Asphalt pavement milling and overlay work, to be carried out over two weeks, will begin on Robinson Street on Tuesday, July 14. Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures and delays during construction.
