Did You Receive a Yellow Letter?

Yellow letter graphic

Important changes are coming to SoonerCare. Starting on Jan. 1, 2027, a new federal law requires some SoonerCare members ages 19-64 to work, go to school or help in their community. This will ensure those members keep their SoonerCare health coverage. If you received a yellow letter in the mail, these changes will likely affect you.

What You Need to Do Now

  1. Update your information. Log in to MySoonerCare.org and make sure your phone number, address and email are up to date.
  2. Watch your mail. Check your mail for letters from SoonerCare or the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. They will provide further directions on what you need to do.
  3. Review resources. If you need help finding a job or enrolling in school, view resources on the Work Requirements page or the links below.

Some members may lose coverage if they are not working, enrolled in school, volunteering or meeting other exemptions.

Early childhood tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood condition. But it is largely preventable. Cavities/tooth decay in early childhood are five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. When used at least twice a year, fluoride varnish reduces dental decay by up to 35%. For more information, talk to your SoonerCare provider today.

Are You Taking Carbidopa/Levodopa? You Might Need Vitamin B6!

Photo of a senior man taking medication

SoonerCare now covers vitamin B6 for members who take carbidopa/levodopa, a medicine used to treat Parkinson's disease symptoms. Talk to your doctor before taking B6.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently warned that carbidopa/levodopa can lower B6 levels in the body. Low B6 can cause serious health problems, including seizures.

If you take carbidopa/levodopa, your doctor may check your B6 level. This will help them decide if you need a B6 supplement. Do not start taking B6 on your own. Too much B6 can also be harmful.

SoonerCare members who take carbidopa/levodopa can get covered vitamin B6 products without prior authorization. Up to a 90-day supply is covered.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about vitamin B6 or other medicines.

More questions? Call the Pharmacy Help Desk at 405-522-6205, option 4, or toll-free at 800-522-0114, option 4.

Choosing the Right Equipment

Choosing the right equipment for daily tasks can be confusing. You may wonder what type you need:

  • Assistive technology includes tools that help people with disabilities. It can also help older adults gain independence. These tools can be as simple as adapted utensils or reading aids. Or they can be advanced, like speech-generating devices and computer access tools.
  • Durable medical equipment is designed for repeated use. It helps treat medical conditions or disabilities. It includes items like wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds and bathroom safety equipment.

Sometimes, a device can fall into both categories.

With so many options, trying equipment before buying can help you find the best fit. Oklahoma ABLE Tech offers services to help Oklahomans explore options.

The Device Demonstration Program lets you view and test different assistive devices. Trained staff are on hand to help.

The Device Reutilization Program provides certain durable medical equipment. Eligible Oklahomans pay no cost.

Before choosing equipment, ask yourself a few questions. Does it meet your needs? Will it work in your home, workplace or classroom?

Oklahoma ABLE Tech can help you explore options and find the right equipment.
