Governor Mary Fallin Appoints Laura Corbin Associate District Judge of Johnston County
OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Mary Fallin today announced the appointment of Laura Corbin as
associate district judge for Johnston County.
Corbin’s appointment is effective
immediately. She replaces the late Judge Charles Migliorino.
Corbin, of Coleman, has practiced law in Tishomingo since 1996, working as an associate with Smith, Shew, Scrivner & Corbin for 12 years and owning her own practice since 2008. She has handled a variety of cases dealing with family
law, contracts, wills, trusts, probates, real estate, deprived juveniles,
bankruptcy, landlord/tenant law, guardianship and other civil litigation.
She also has served as a municipal judge
for Tishomingo since 2000.
“Laura Corbin has a strong work
ethic, is knowledgeable of the law, and is willing to devote her time and
effort to ensure citizens receive a fair hearing in court,” said Fallin. “She will
serve the residents of Johnston County well.”
Corbin earned a bachelor’s degree from
East Central University and a juris doctorate from Oklahoma City University.
She and her husband, Murray Corbin III, reside in Coleman with their three
sons; Cameron, 19; Connor, 14; and Creed, 8.
She is the church pianist for the
Bullard Chapel Baptist Church, and teaches Sunday school classes for students
in the first through third grades.
“I
am committed to conducting my courtroom in a professional and respectful
manner and being prepared for the cases that come before me,” Corbin said.
“I’m thankful for Governor Fallin’s confidence in me, and I am humbled and
honored to serve the people of Johnston County as associate district judge.”
