Governor Mary Fallin Announces Education Appointments
OKLAHOMA CITY –
Governor Mary Fallin today announced the following appointments to
education-related boards. Each appointment has been confirmed by the state Senate.
Board of Trustees for Langston University-Oklahoma
City and Langston University-Tulsa
Stanley L. Evans, of Oklahoma City, was
appointed to a seven-year term that ends in June 2023. He succeeds M.L. Jemison.
Evans retired from the U.S. Army in 2000 after 32 years of service. He started
law school at age 54 and went on to become associate dean for students at the
University of Oklahoma College of Law. He retired in 2012, but remains involved
at the college as a counselor, adviser and recruiter.

of Trustees for Oklahoma State University-Tulsa
John O’Connor, of Tulsa, was appointed
to a seven-year term that ends in June 2022. He is succeeding Henry Primeaux. O’Connor,
who earned his law degree from the University of Tulsa, is chairman and chief
executive officer of Newton, O’Connor, Turner & Ketchum law firm.
Board of Regents of University of
Science and Arts of Oklahoma
David L. Ferrell, of Chickasha, was
appointed to replace Hilary Kitz. He will serve a seven-year term that ends in
June 2023. Ferrell, who earned a master’s degree in business administration
from Cameron University, is market president for Bank of Commerce.

Community College
Kevin S.
Perry, of Edmond, was appointed to succeed Theresa Moisant. He will serve a
seven-year term ending April 2023. Perry, who earned a bachelor’s degree in
banking and finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, is the president and
chief executive officer of Perry Publishing & Broadcasting Co.
Chris A.
Lawson, of Oklahoma City, is succeeding Helen Camey, who resigned. He will
serve the remainder of her term, which ends in April 2020. Lawson, a graduate
of Oklahoma City University, is president and chief executive officer of the
non-profit Ann Lacy Foundation.
Board
of Regents of Tulsa Community College
Caron Lawhorn, of Tulsa, was appointed
to a seven-year term that ends in June 2023. She succeeds Larry D. Leonard.
Lawhorn, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the
University of Tulsa, is senior vice president of ONE Gas Inc.
Board of Regents of Rose State
College
R. Brandon Clabes, of Choctaw, was
appointed to succeed Dick Hefton. Clabes will serve a seven-year term that
expires in 2023. Clabes, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the FBI
National Academy, is police chief for the city of Midwest City.
Board of Regents of Carl Albert State
College
Ronald Lawson,
of Spiro, is being reappointed to serve a new seven-year term that expires in
July 2023. Lawson, who earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in
1981, is a senior member of the law office of Lawson & Grant.
Dwight D.
Spencer, of Sallisaw, is filling the unexpired term of the late Jerry
Hetherington. His term will end in July 2019. Spencer, who earned a bachelor’s
degree in business administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University,
is owner and general manager of Blue Ribbon Auto Group.
Board of Regents of Redlands
Community College
Dr. David Von
Tungeln, of Calumet, was appointed to serve a seven-year term though April
2023. He is succeeding Charlie Beard. Von Tungeln, a veterinarian, owns Von
Tungeln Farms, a large livestock and farming operation.
Board of Regents of Murray State
College
Steven R. Jolly, of Sulphur, was
reappointed to serve a seven-year term that expires in June 2023. Jolly is the
district manager of the Arbuckle Master Conservancy District.
Board of Regents of Northern Oklahoma
College
Daniel “Chad” Dillingham, of Enid, was
appointed to succeed Keith James. He will serve a five-year term that ends in
June 2021. Dillingham is president and co-owner of Dillingham Insurance.
