Also on Friday, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office and other agencies in the area will have extra units on the streets looking for impaired drivers.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol ENDUI team has also arranged a high-visibility saturation patrol with the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement in the area on Friday night.

On Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will be joined by the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Police Department will be conducting high-visibility patrols in the area around the checkpoint and across the city.

The Valley Brook Police Department will also be participating in a high-visibility saturation patrol within their city limits on Saturday.

In the Tulsa area, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will be joined by the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, Tulsa Police Department, Sapupla Police Department, and the Creek County Sheriff's Office to conduct saturation patrols in the Tulsa/Creek County area on Saturday.

All of these activities are organized by the ENDUI enforcement team. These troopers are assigned to the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and the ENDUI program to combat the number and severity of impaired driving crashes in Oklahoma.

There is absolutely no reason for impaired driving collisions to happen. Before you start drinking your green beer, make sure you designate your sober driver. If you're the designated driver this weekend, remember your responsibility to get your friends home safe. Never drink and drive, not even after one green beer.

In 2017, 656 people were killed in crashes in Oklahoma; almost half of those (324) were killed in drug/alcohol-related crashes. This is up from 43 percent killed in drug/alcohol-related crashes in 2016 in Oklahoma. Think about those numbers for a minute. That's more than 300 families who had a knock on their door one day telling them their loved one will never come home again. All because of the actions of an impaired driver. Everyone is highly encouraged to find a safe ride by calling a sober driver, using a cab, Uber, Lyft or any other ride-share service. Better yet, have a designated driver. Have fun and enjoy life, but do not, under any circumstances, drive while impaired by alcohol or any other substance. The cost is too high. Let’s ENDUI. The media is invited to attend these checkpoints to help us raise awareness about the impaired driving problem in Oklahoma. Interviews with members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will be available.
