Nominations Open for the
2019 Buckledown Awards

Do you have an officer or group of officers in your agency who go above and beyond when it comes to enforcing traffic laws? What better way to show them you appreciate their dedicated service than by nominating them to be recognized with other leaders in the state?

The BuckleDown Awards Program was started in 1993 by Sgt. Mike Garner with the Tulsa Police Department, and Dr. Richard Coberg with Educational Alternatives in Norman. These awards have grown from a small, local traffic safety recognition program, to the largest state-wide law enforcement recognition program in Oklahoma.

Nominations for the 26th annual BuckleDown Awards are open until January 18th.

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office is proud to partner with the BuckleDown Awards Program to help recognize leaders in traffic safety enforcement in our state. Each year, hundreds of officers, deputies, troopers, and state agents gather in Tulsa to be recognized as the top performers for their agencies.

EVENT DETAILS

This year's ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 28 at the Tulsa Technology Center in Owasso. Registration will start at 0900 along with a free breakfast donated by Jimmy's Egg. The awards presentations will begin at 1000 hours and should conclude by noon.

NOMINATION DETAILS

NOTE: Each officer nominated will be recognized and given an award during the event. If you are nominating an officer, please inform them so they can make arrangements to be at the ceremony.

Each officer nominated will receive a plaque, a T-shirt from AAA Oklahoma, a backpack from the "Joy In The Cause" program, and be eligible for one of several great door prizes donated by local businesses.

The event is sponsored by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma ABLE Commission, SafeKids Tulsa, AAA Oklahoma, State Farm, the Tulsa Police Department, and Tulsa County Sheriff's Office to name a few.
