The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is partnering with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma City Police Department, Midwest City Police Department, and the Del City Police Department to conduct a checkpoint and saturation patrols in the county.
The checkpoint will begin at 11 PM and last until 1 AM on Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26. During this time, officers from the surrounding towns will be increasing patrols to be on the lookout for impaired drivers.
There
is absolutely no reason for impaired driving collisions to happen. If you are
drinking, have a plan to get home safe.
In 2017, 656 people were killed in
crashes in Oklahoma; almost half of those (324) were killed in
drug/alcohol-related crashes. This is up from 43 percent killed in
drug/alcohol-related crashes in 2016 in Oklahoma.
