Sobriety Checkpoint and Patrols Planned for Comanche County

To kick off the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, law enforcement in Comanche County will come together to conduct a sobriety checkpoint and high-visibility patrols.

The checkpoint and patrols will take place on Friday, Aug. 17 in the Lawton area. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will be joined by the Lawton Police Department and the Comanche County Sheriff's Office to conduct these activities.

During a similar checkpoint in Lawton in early July, four DUI arrests were made with one being alcohol-related, two were driving under the influence of marijuana, and another was under the influence of more than one drug.

During the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, law enforcement from across the state and the United States will be stepping up enforcement efforts to get impaired drivers off the roads.

There is absolutely no reason for impaired driving collisions to happen. If you are drinking, have a plan to get home safe.
