Guidance Regarding Governor Stitt's Executive Order on CDC Ratio

March 24, 2020

In accordance with Governor Stitt's Executive Order restricting gatherings to 10 or less people, and guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) offers the following guidance:

The CDC, in its guidance on events and mass gatherings recommends group size to 10 or fewer. We, therefore, ask child care providers to reconfigure space to limit overall density of rooms to 10 or fewer children. See the CDC website for more information.

By midnight tonight, in accordance with Governor Stitt’s order, child care providers should:

· Ensure that children/youth and staff meet staff-child ratio. However, group sizes should be limited to 10 or less. Group sizes for infants should be limited to four or less.

· Ensure that family child care homes meet licensing ratio. However, the number of child care and family members cannot be 10 or more in the common child care area.

It is important to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by:

· Reducing group sizes and minimize mixing of children/adults and staff.

· Keeping children/adults and staff consistent during the duration of the outbreak. Doing so will help reduce the potential exposures and may prevent an entire program from shutting down if an exposure does occur.

We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and may provide further official guidance over the coming days and weeks.
