As Independence Day approaches this week, here are a few points of the city ordinance on discharging fireworks in city limits.
- It is legal to discharge fireworks on July 3rd and July 4th between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- No residential permit is required.
- Discharging fireworks on city property, such as a park or arterial street, is not allowed.
- Must be discharged on a noncombustible surface and not closer than 25 feet to any permanent structure.
- The person setting off fireworks must clean up the debris on the same day the fireworks are spent.
- Using fireworks outside of July 3rd and July 4th between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. is punishable by a fine.
- Fines double for the discharging of fireworks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

To keep phone lines clear for people experiencing life-threatening emergencies, the Broken Arrow Fire Department and Broken Arrow Police Department ask residents to not call 911 to report illegal fireworks use. For non-public safety emergencies, please call the Police Non-emergency line at 918-259-8400.
