Did you know more than 19,500 reported fires are started annually by fireworks?
With July 4th approaching quickly, the City of Broken Arrow and Broken Arrow Fire Department encourage citizens to celebrate Independence Day responsibly to ensure a safe and fun holiday. If your plans include setting off fireworks, please be aware of storm debris that may still be present in your neighborhood and take precautions to reduce the potential for an accidental fire.

Here’s what you need to know about setting off fireworks in city limits:
- Discharging fireworks in city limits is only allowed with a valid permit between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on July 3rd and 4th.
- Any use of fireworks outside these times and dates is illegal and punishable by a fine of at least $225.
- The permit holder must be physically present when the fireworks are being used.
- Use must be within 60 feet of the front door of the residence of the permit holder.
- Fireworks must be discharged on a noncombustible surface and not closer than 25 feet to any permanent structure.
- It is the responsibility of the permit holder to remove the debris on the same day the fireworks are discharged.
Purchasing your permit is easy! You don’t need to come to City Hall, either. Use the Citizen Self Service Portal to apply, pay for, and receive your permit. If you experience difficulty with the Citizen Self Service Portal, please visit City Hall to process your permit. You may do so in person until 5 p.m. on Monday, July 3rd. Once you have the permit, you’re ready to celebrate during the designated time.
