The Broken Arrow City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 1443 on Tuesday night, recognizing the staffing shortage at Broken Arrow Public Schools and declaring the City’s support to provide volunteers to the district in its efforts to continue in-person learning.
The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement with BAPS and allows city employees to participate in the school district’s volunteer staffing plan.
“If we can offer our employees to substitute teach, drive a bus, manage a cash register in the cafeteria, whatever the district needs, without comprising the high-quality customer services we provide to our citizens, we’re going to do it. My hope is that folks in our community also recognize the district’s needs and feel compelled to serve and lend a helping hand,” said City Manager Michael Spurgeon.
