City Water Quality Technicians are flushing fire hydrants to address concerns of cloudy tap water in specific areas within the city.
Air in the water is the most common cause of water that looks cloudy, milky, or white. Cloudy water occurs more often during cold weather events because cold water holds more air than warm water. Changes in the water temperature or pressure will cause the air to become visible in your tap water.
When flushing, our Technicians also measure chlorine residuals and they have been at normal levels. Water that appears cloudy due to air but clears from the bottom of the glass up, is safe to drink.
If you have any water quality concerns or questions, please contact us at (918) 259-7000 Ext. 7221 or email Water_Resources@BrokenArrowOk.gov. If it is after 4 p.m., please call the non-emergency police dispatch line at (918) 259-8400.
