Welcome to the first Opioid Abatement Grantee Newsletter! Our hope is this newsletter will consolidate the information you need to know about your Opioid Abatement Grant awarded by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board (OAB) and administered by the Oklahoma Attorney General's (OAG's) office into one monthly email.

What information can you expect to see in the newsletter? The Opioid Abatement Grantee Newsletter will be sent out once a month. Who will receive the newsletter? The Authorizing Official and Main Point of Contact listed on your grant application will automatically receive this newsletter. Other individuals from your organization may be added to the distribution by sending their name and email address to Khylee Rankin, Khylee.Rankin@oag.ok.gov. Please Note: The information in the newsletter will include general updates, reminders, announcements, or event information applicable to all grantees. Matters specific to your grant award will still be communicated directly by OAG staff or our partners.

Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Planning Conference

Join the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General and Healthy Minds Policy Initiative for a chance to connect with and learn from other leaders implementing opioid abatement projects in their communities at the upcoming planning conference.

· When: Noon to 3:30 p.m., Nov. 6, 2025

· Where: Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits: 701 N Lindsay Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73104

· Who is this event for? Representatives of cities, counties, school districts or other eligible political subdivisions that have received opioid abatement grants from the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office

· Lunch will be provided starting at noon; event programming will begin at 1 p.m.

· Grant compliance updates from the Stedman Group

· Q&A from attendees

· Breakout sessions by strategy area

COMPLIANCE & EVALUATION OFFICE HOURS

This is a reminder of the optional office hours to be held for awardees in the 2024 cohort (i.e., performance period 07/01/2024 - 06/30/2026). The purpose of these optional meetings is to provide a forum for awardees to ask questions regarding the upcoming quarterly report, due by October 31st. About the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Grant

Title 74, sections 30.3 through 30.8 create the Political Subdivisions Opioid Abatement Grants Act. The Act’s purpose is to promote and protect the health of Oklahomans by using monetary grants to abate the opioid crisis in a comprehensive manner that includes cooperation and collaboration with political subdivisions. 

Grants will fund treatment and recovery programs, assistance with co-occurring disorders and mental health issues, opioid abuse education and prevention, proper prescription efforts, and strategies to decrease the supply of narcotics across the state. Grants are rigorously reviewed and approved by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board comprising of the Attorney General and appointees of the Governor, Speaker of the House, Senate President Pro Tempore, State Treasurer, State Superintendent for Public Instruction, and State Auditor and Inspector.
