To keep as much solid waste from entering the landfill, and generate revenue opportunities from the district’s solid waste, SWACO consulted with Battelle Memorial Institute and Resource Recycling Systems to study future potential.

Fall provides an opportunity to focus on recycling, especially yard waste. SWACO dedicates $1.5 million annually to provide curbside yard waste recycling at no cost for Franklin County residents. Compost, curbside and drop-off options are available.

Consortiums Provide Lower Costs, More Services

For over a decade, SWACO has assisted Franklin County communities in competitively and collaboratively bidding for waste and recycling services. Grove City, Urbancrest and Jackson Township will review contracts this fall and expand residential recycling services.
