OPSB schedules public hearing for Glenwillow Substation project
COLUMBUS, OHIO (Dec. 13, 2012) – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a public hearing to provide residents an opportunity to testify about American Transmission Systems, Inc.’s (ATSI) proposal to construct an electric transmission switching substation in the village of Glenwillow.
The local public hearing is scheduled for:
January 30, 2013, at 6 p.m. Village of Glenwillow Council Chambers 29555 Pettibone Road Glenwillow, Ohio 44139-5348
The Glenwillow Substation would connect the proposed Bruce Mansfield - Glenwillow 345 kilovolt (kV) Transmission Line to two existing 345 kV transmission lines and reinforce the electric system in the greater Cleveland area.
ATSI has proposed a preferred site and an alternate site for the substation. Both sites are located within the village of Glenwillow on vacant parcels zoned as industrial and adjacent to the existing 345 kV transmission lines. The preferred site is located at the intersection of Austin Powder Drive and Cochran Road. The alternate site is located adjacent to the preferred site on the north side of the existing transmission lines.
The adjudicatory hearing in this case will begin on February 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Hearing Room 11-D at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3793.
The Bruce Mansfield - Glenwillow Transmission Line is a separate proposal from ATSI to construct a new, single circuit transmission line across parts of northeastern Ohio. ATSI proposes to build this project within existing rights-of-way.
Additional information regarding the Glenwillow Substation (Case No. 12-1727-EL-BSB) and the Bruce Mansfield - Glenwillow Transmission Line (Case No. 12-1726-EL-BLN) is available on the OPSB website at www.OPSB.ohio.gov.

The OPSB is responsible for reviewing and certificating plans for the construction of new energy facilities in Ohio. Before any company can build a major utility facility, the OPSB ensures that the facility will benefit Ohio’s citizens, promote the state’s economic interests and protect the environment and land use. The OPSB’s certification process includes local public hearings that allow residents to voice their opinions and concerns on proposed projects.
