A Stark County man and carry out charged with food stamp fraud

(CANTON) – A Louisville, Ohio man was arraigned earlier today in Canton Municipal Court on food stamp fraud related charges. 

Adel Ahmed Hmeidan, 63, was arrested on September 15, on a warrant for the illegal use of foods stamps, a fifth degree felony. He was incarcerated in the Stark County Jail.

A&E of Canton, LLC., also known as Welcome Food & Pizza, 846 Market Avenue South, in Canton, was also administratively charged with two counts each of illegal use of electronic benefit transfer (EBT),trafficking EBT and theft.

Hmeidan’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 25. If convicted, Hmeidan could face jail time, fines and be forced to pay restitution. The administrative case will be presented to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission at a later date. Possible administrative penalties include fines, suspensions, or revocation of the liquor permit.
