HB 123 Threat Assessment Training Solicitation
Ohio Revised Code section 5502.263 requires the Department of Public Safety, in consultation with the Department of Education and the Attorney General, to develop and maintain a list of approved training programs for completion by school threat assessment team members prescribed in section 3313.669 of the Revised Code, one of which must be free or of no cost to schools. Programs must be evidence based and include specific instruction elements as defined by section 5502.263.
The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) is soliciting course providers to be included on the approved list for the OSSC website. If you are currently using a threat assessment training provider, please forward them this bulletin to have them apply.
For an application to be considered complete, it must contain the following:
- Completed application form.
- Supporting documentation and publications as required by the application.
Applications must be sent to OhioSchoolSafetyCenter@dps.ohio.gov and the subject of the email must include the following information, “Threat Assessment Training Approval Request – Name of Provider Here.” Please be sure to include the provider name in the email subject.
Applications will be reviewed on a bi-weekly basis. When courses are approved, the OSSC will post them on the OSSC website.
