The Ohio Children's Trust Fund released a Request for Grant Applications to support prevention programs and community education campaigns in Ohio aimed at eliminating human trafficking and child exploitation. Interested organizations can learn more here.

The U.S. Department of Transportation established the Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking to develop and provide recommended best practices for state and local transportation stakeholders for combating human trafficking.

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted four people on charges of compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution and rape, among other charges. Additionally, a fifth person was indicted on obstruction of justice.

The University of Toledo Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute completed a study at the request of the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commission on how traffickers target and connect with vulnerable children on the Internet through social media.

An Akron man was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking in persons, promoting prostitution, compelling prostitution and corrupting another with drugs.
