Take advantage of free counseling and support tools this Mental Health Awareness Month including services fully covered by Ohio Medicaid. This May, look into those services including individual, family, group therapy, and crisis intervention — helping you manage stress, anxiety, and more with zero or minimal costs.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 by call, text, or chat for immediate confidential support. Explore toolkits from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) which works closely with Ohio Medicaid. SAMHSA has a variety of mental health resources — like Ohio’s provider directory and self-help guides — to build coping strategies like mindfulness, breathing techniques, and routine-setting. Prioritize your well‑being this month — with available care, trusted tools, and a compassionate community standing by your side.

Governor Mike DeWine’s new Ohio Student Eye Exam (OhioSEE) initiative brings free, comprehensive on-site eye exams and glasses to K-3 students across 15 high-priority Ohio counties. Thanks to the Ohio Departments of Medicaid and Health, all children can receive routine vision exams and eyeglasses at no cost, with one exam and pair of glasses covered every 12 months. By coordinating OhioSEE’s school-based screenings with Medicaid’s coverage, the program ensures no child falls behind due to vision barriers — removing transportation, cost, and access issues so they can be healthy to learn with clear eyes.

What does this mean for you?
Eligible members in these counties may start receiving benefits through a Next Generation MyCare plan right now. When your benefits begin depends on whether – and when – you select a plan or are automatically assigned one.
- If you selected a plan before May 1, you are now receiving care through your selected plan.
- If you did not select a plan before May 1, you will be automatically enrolled in a plan for your Medicaid benefits. You should receive a letter from ODM with more information about your plan and its start date.
- If you want to get your benefits through a Next Generation MyCare plan sooner or change your plan, contact the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 800-324-8680. You cannot begin receiving care through a MyCare plan ahead of the date the program becomes available in your county.
- If you are eligible for the MyCare Ohio Waiver, you will start receiving services through the waiver once your plan starts.
Once you are enrolled with your plan, you should receive a new member ID card and other information explaining your benefits.
You can keep seeing your current doctors for a limited time after you start receiving care through the program. After that transition period ends, you’ll need to make sure your doctor is in your plan’s network.
