Important Reminder on Ohio Medicaid Fee-for-Service Prior Authorization Inquiry

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) would like to remind you of the correct procedure for completing searches for fee-for-service (FFS) prior authorizations and how to address common user errors in the Provider Network Management (PNM) module. This process does not apply to managed care prior authorization searches, which are submitted directly to the managed care entities.

How do I search for FFS prior authorization submissions in the PNM module?

Follow the steps outlined in the detailed Prior Authorization Search & Submission PNM User Guide to assist you through this process.

What steps can I take if I am unable to find FFS prior authorization submission?

If you do not see the expected FFS prior authorization in your search results, ODM recommends checking the following items:

  • Verify that you have the correct PNM module user role assigned for the Medicaid Provider ID of the requesting provider in the PNM module. Only users with a Provider Administrator or Provider Agent for the requesting provider can search for the prior authorization.
  • Verify that you are using the Medicaid ID number for the Requesting Provider. The Requesting Provider is the Provider Medicaid ID under which the user submitted the prior authorization and may or may be the Servicing/Rendering Provider.
  • Check that the Provider Medicaid ID used in the search is correct. You can see this information at the top of the Prior Authorization Search window in the PNM module. Refer to the highlighted in the image below for an example.
