Exciting changes are coming to the MyCare Ohio program

MyCare Ohio Logo

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) has officially begun work on the procurement of the Next Generation of MyCare Ohio to improve your experience with the program. MyCare Ohio is a managed care program designed to coordinate care for Ohioans who receive both Medicaid and Medicare benefits. You will receive - through the MyCare Ohio health plan you choose - medical, behavioral, and long-term services and supports.

In the coming months, ODM will release a request for applications for managed care plans to serve as the MyCare Ohio plans as we transition to the future program. Beginning in January of 2026, the selected plans will begin covering the full Medicare and Medicaid benefits for those who quality in the 29 counties where MyCare is currently available, with expansion statewide coming later.

ODM is continuing our member outreach efforts by conducting a series of in-person meetings throughout the state with Ohioans who are dually eligible and their caregivers. These sessions will share information on the current MyCare Ohio program and allow you time to share experiences and suggestions on navigating healthcare systems and the providers who serve you. If you are interested learning more or sharing your experiences, read the, “Join us for an Ohio Medicaid MyCare program roadshow session” article below.

Join us for a MyCare Ohio program community input session

The Ohio Department of Medicaid’s MyCare Ohio program has exciting changes coming, including expansion of the program statewide. The MyCare Ohio program integrates both Medicaid and Medicare benefits into one program, coordinated by a managed care plan.

Member eligibility criteria

Ohio Department of Medicaid is conducting a series of in-person meetings throughout the state with Ohioans who are dually eligible and their caregivers over the coming months. In these meetings, we expect to hear your experiences navigating healthcare systems and the providers who serve you. Feedback collected will inform efforts to prepare you for forthcoming changes to the program. If you currently receive services through the MyCare Ohio program or may be eligible, please join us.

The first session will be a statewide virtual kick-off to provide an overview of the MyCare Ohio program, session approach, and schedule. We encourage all members to attend this virtual kick-off, but attendance is not required to participate in an in-person session. Beginning in April, we will be hosting a series of in-person sessions across Ohio. Please attend the one that is in the town closest to you.

What is the purpose of the MyCare Ohio program community input session?

Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is reviewing today’s MyCare Ohio program to identify possible changes to better address the needs of the individuals we serve. To support this, we are expanding the MyCare Ohio program statewide to allow more Ohioans to benefit from the program’s integrated care and support in navigating Medicaid and Medicare benefits. During this process of expanding coverage, we will also transition the program to have greater focus on the individual, by expanding your benefits to help address your unique individual healthcare needs.

We will conduct a series of in-person meetings throughout the state with Ohioans who are dually eligible and caregivers over the coming months to hear your experiences navigating healthcare systems and the providers who serve you. Feedback collected will inform efforts to prepare you for forthcoming changes to the program. Family members and caregivers are also encouraged to come.
