Governor DeWine joined leaders from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Ohio Department of Development, and the local community to celebrate the opening of two Miami County I-75 rest areas.
Across the state, Governor DeWine is enhancing the safety, experience, and accessibility for travelers in Ohio, while sharing Ohio’s natural history, historic past, and popular attractions at re-imagined rest areas. New facilities include native Ohio plants, dog trails, rocking chairs, and Storybook Trails, which give kids and families the chance to read a Dolly Parton Imagination Library book along a short trail while stretching their legs.
“Our rest areas not only provide a break for travelers, but they also help to tell the story of Ohio, the Heart of it All,” said Governor DeWine. “We want people to learn about Ohio’s amazing history, innovative people, and natural beauty – and then go explore for themselves!”

Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff continued their statewide tour at Spencerville Elementary School in Allen County to discuss OhioSEE, a new children's eyesight program.
While visiting Spencerville Elementary School, Governor DeWine met with several students who have benefited from comprehensive vision services offered through OhioSEE. Eighteen students in kindergarten through third grade received eyeglasses, at no cost to the child or family, from Health Partners of Western Ohio, an OhioSEE vendor.
"As Fran and I have traveled around the state, we have seen firsthand how OhioSEE is changing lives," said Governor DeWine. "The joy and excitement on the faces of these students when they put their new glasses on really says it all. OhioSEE is answering a real need for vision care in this pilot program area, and I encourage superintendents to take a look at this program and reach out to us to get signed up."
Lt. Governor Tressel and Tina Husted, wife of U.S. Senator Jon Husted, held an assembly with Bucyrus City Schools elementary and middle school students around the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, where they discussed the importance of fitness, nutrition, and good sleep.
