Older Americans Month: 'Champion Your Health'
Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month, a time to recognize older Americans' contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm the commitment to serving older adults.
The 2026 theme 'Champion Your Health' focuses on prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging. It encourages taking an active role in older adults managing their own health, advocating for themselves, accessing preventive care, and making informed decisions that support independence.
Join ACL and the Ohio Health Insurance Information Program in highlighting the importance of evidence-based approaches, self-management, and community partnerships that empower individuals to lead their healthiest lives! On this site, find materials to help you celebrate. And use #OlderAmericansMonth and #OSHIIP on social media with your content!

Some Beneficiaries Receiving New Medicare Cards with New Numbers
Around 2.8 million new Medicare cards have been mailed to beneficiaries across the country with new Medicare beneficiary numbers due to fraud. Medicare is sending these new cards with a letter explaining why new numbers were issued.
Beneficiaries in Ohio who receive a new card and are unsure of its legitimacy can call 800-Medicare or the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program at 800-686-1578 for assistance. These new cards are not plastic. They are the standard paper red/white/blue card.
