Strengthening Ohio’s Insurance Workforce
by Judith L. French, Director
At the Ohio Department of Insurance, we recognize that a skilled, future-ready workforce is essential to sustaining Ohio’s position as a leading insurance marketplace both nationally and globally.
As one of Ohio’s largest employment sectors and economic engines, the insurance industry is growing steadily while also experiencing a wave of retirements. According to a Regionomics study, the state is projected to see demand for 108,000 insurance positions by 2031.
In response, we continue to collaborate with Governor DeWine’s Office of Workforce Transformation, JobsOhio, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, representatives from the state's insurance industry, and other key partners to attract, develop, and retain a highly-skilled insurance workforce.
Our efforts are designed to reach individuals at every stage of their career journey, from students and emerging professionals to mid-career changers and those seeking to enhance their skills. Programs like Insuring Ohio Futures exemplify our commitment to ensuring that Ohio remains a premier insurance-career destination.
Whether someone is exploring academic pathways, seeking to leverage existing skills, or navigating career transitions, insurance career opportunities are available in Ohio. Visit our website to learn more. We also invite ideas and feedback to help us advance the state's position as a hub for insurance talent and innovation.

Ohio Department of Insurance Hosts Educational Forum for Interns
The Ohio Department of Insurance held an educational forum on July 15 for about 50 college interns from insurance companies and agencies across the state. The event aimed to introduce students to Ohio’s insurance industry, the department’s regulatory role, and career opportunities.
Workforce development is a priority for Governor Mike DeWine and Director Judith L. French, who emphasized the growing demand for insurance professionals in Ohio, and shared her own career story and highlighted the value of public service.
The forum included presentations from various department divisions, offering insights into their functions and career paths. Students also toured the Ohio Statehouse to gain a better understanding of government and public service.

Compliance Reminder: Business Entities Must Ensure Affiliations Are Current
System enhancements are coming soon to the Ohio Department of Insurance’s licensing platform, adding more self-service features. To avoid disruptions, insurance agencies, also referred to as business entities, must ensure individuals handling CN-65 changes are properly affiliated.
Only those with specific roles, such as an officer, manager, or licensing coordinator, will be able to make changes once system updates go live.
Affiliations can be reviewed and updated via this notification of changes for business entities link.
