OSHIIP Medicare 101 Booklet Explains Medicare Plan Options and More
The OSHIIP Medicare 101 booklet is a handy resource for help navigating Medicare coverage choices and understanding the benefits and options that are available, including Medicare Supplement (Medigap) and Medicare Advantage plans.
The booklet provides an overview of Medicare Part A (inpatient coverage), Medicare Part B (outpatient coverage), Medicare Supplements (Medigap), Medicare Advantage plans (Part C), Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, and predatory sales practices.
Know the Difference Between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage Plans
A Medicare Supplement Plan (Medigap) is different from a Medicare Advantage Plan. A Medicare Advantage Plan is another way to get Medicare coverage besides Original Medicare. A Medigap policy is a supplement to Original Medicare coverage. When getting started with Medicare, a beneficiary can either buy Medigap or enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, but they can’t have both. More information is available here.
