The InnovateOhio Platform (IOP) team is excited to announce an upcoming enhancement to IOP-powered web sites. Starting in December, the IOP User Experience team will begin to remove the ‘/wps/portal/gov’ path in site URLs.
Why is this enhancement important?
This enhancement will provide a simpler URL that is easier to share and to advertise with your audience. It will also improve search engine optimization (SEO).
For example, ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/site/government will become ohio.gov/government.
When will this enhancement take place?
Starting in December, the IOP team will begin deployment of a phased roll-out of this enhancement.
IOP will notify site owners ahead of their scheduled enhancement date. Please note that the IOP team is taking site traffic, pre-scheduled site activity and other updates into consideration in determining the release schedule.
What are the impacts to my site?
There are no anticipated impacts to sites or site visitors in shortening agency site URLs. Existing links and friendly URLs with the current path will redirect automatically.
