House Resolution 101 - Supporting Ohio's Bid to Host the 2030 U.S.A. Special Olympics
Representative Bird announced that his resolution, jointly sponsored with State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer, that reinforces the Ohio House's support for Cleveland’s bid to host the 2030 Special Olympics USA Games was passed on the floor Wednesday.
Cleveland is one of two finalist cities currently under consideration by the Special Olympics Bid Evaluation Committee. Hosting the Games is projected to generate an estimated $70 million in economic impact for the region.
“I am proud to help lead this effort to bring the 2030 Special Olympics USA Games to Cleveland,” said Rep. Bird. “Communities and volunteers across Ohio have been giving special Olympic athletes the opportunity to compete for years.”

Rep. Bird Co-Sponsors Bill to Eliminate Quotas for Law Enforcement
Representative Bird co-sponsored legislation that passed through the Ohio House on Wednesday that prohibits law enforcement agencies from using quotas for arrests and citations.
The measure aims to shift the culture in Ohio to prioritize the quality of police work over the quantity of tickets written, building positive relationships between community members and their law enforcement officers. Under current law, it is legal to mandate that an officer issue a certain number of tickets each day.
House Bill 131 awaits consideration from the Ohio Senate.
Rep. Bird enjoyed meeting with the Village of Williamsburg and Williamsburg Township this week to discuss infrastructure needs, projected growth, emergency services, and tax policy.
